Up next from We Play Acid we bring you WPA035 “Acido Primario E.P.” from our contact in Colombia “El Traste” aka Jose Marulanda. Jose comes from Barranquilla, an important trade outpost at the mouth of the Magdalena, Colombia’s widest river , and a fascinating melting pot of Afro-Caribbean and European cultures which are celebrated each year in a bewildering carnival made up of passion plays , gory political satire , bizarre animal mythology, frantic African dancing and what look like Spanish Morris men dancing round a maypole , a real feast for the senses that was bound to leave a deep impression on him. Jose quickly made the connection that the music he heard growing up in Barranquilla and the music he was hearing at parties were fundamentally the same , electronic or not , music for dancing is music for dancing the whole world over and so “Acido Primario E.P.” was born.

“Acido Primario” has at its heart the rhythms of Barranquilla , four formulaic yet compelling tracks heavily laden with Latin and African rhythms and constantly evolving bass lines under strict computer control , its riffy , almost like the baseline takes little solos around a central theme ,

“ Acido Primario E.P. ” manages to pull off the elusive trick of being joyful and optimistic without being saccharin with the exception of the Acid Driver re-tweak of the title track which is an altogether deeper cut with a stubborn techno edge So please show your support for “El Traste” “Acido Primario E.P.” And We Play Acid record label so we can continue to bring you the freshest acid sounds from around the globe.
